BARISTA BASICS

If you’re someone that can’t tell your mochas from your macchiatos, this class will teach you the basics of being a barista and get you familiar with an espresso machine.

Conducted with a maximum of four students, this hands-on class covers coffee harvesting, processing and origins, roast profiles, basic barista techniques and using an espresso machine.

We highly recommend this to anyone looking to pursue a career in the hospitality industry.  

This is a 2.5 hour class.

INTERMEDIATE BARISTA

This class extends on the knowledge acquired in the ‘barista basics’ course, covering dosing techniques, tamping, grinder adjustment and milk texturing.

We dive into coffee before it reaches our cups, giving our baristas some background knowledge from farm to cup. Exploring origin & processing. Each coffee is unique and we want to help you discover why!

Participants will also put the full espresso menu under the microscope and delve into the ins and outs of working in a commercial espresso bar and brewing the perfect cup of specialty coffee. 

This is a 2.5 hour class.

ADVANCED BARISTA

This is the final class in the series of three sessions offered by Tim Adams Specialty Coffee. 

Focusing on mastering your craft. This class will focus on specific techniques. From more advanced latte art pours, to managing efficiency behind the bar and palette development this class can be customised for the individuals attending the session.

While it is not essential to complete all three classes, we recommend participants do so to gain a well-rounded knowledge of what it takes to be a barista.

This is a 1.5 hour class.
