Rukira Wet Mill is part of the Othaya Farmers’ Cooperative Society Limited, a group of washing stations located in Nyeri, at the heart of Kikuyu territory. It processes coffee from 676 smallholder farmers who collectively manage 128.4 acres of land. Each tree typically produces between 5 to 10 kilograms of cherries per season. This cooperative supports both quality production and community livelihoods. The coffee undergoes wet processing. Pulped, fermented, washed, and slowly dried on raised beds. It’s then rested in parchment, hulled, graded, handpicked, and packed in GrainPro bags for export from Mombasa.
