Hacienda Colima has been in the Castro-Kahle family since the 1840s and is now managed by fifth-generation producer Alejo Kahle Castro, whose commitment to quality and innovation has earned him second place in the Cup of Excellence with his other farm, Volcán Azul. Situated on the slopes of Barva Volcano at 1,350–1,500 MASL, Hacienda Colima lies just 14 km from Volcán Azul, where all ripe cherries are processed. While sugar cane remains the main crop, the farm is increasingly focused on meeting the growing demand for exceptional Costa Rican coffee.
