Kiruru Coffee Factory, established in 1952 on a 5-acre site, serves several nearby villages and is uniquely positioned within traditional tea-growing zones. The region follows a biannual harvest cycle, with main crops from March–May and October–December. As one of four stations in the Kiru Farmers' Cooperative Society, Kiruru receives cherries from around 3,500 farmers who also grow macadamia, potatoes, maize, beans, and tea. The area experiences moderate rainfall and temperatures between 12–24°C. Its deep, well-drained red volcanic soils support the main coffee varieties grown here: SL28, SL34, Batian, and Ruiru 11.
